Weekend On Wheels
Along with supporting the health care community, Health Care Family Credit Union also believes it is important to support local community programs. One such program HCFCU is now connected to is Weekend on Wheels.
Weekend On Wheels is a program that the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District created to support families that are at risk of not being able to provide enough food for their children. More than 50% of the student population in the Maplewood Richmond Heights school district qualify for free or reduced lunch prices. The district decided to take action and support these families by sending home food with students each weekend.
Last year HCFCU became a year-round collection site for the program. This year we decided to take an additional step and make our own food donation. So what happens when you turn HCFCU President, Terry Summers, loose inside a Shop'n Save with the intent to help as many people as she can? The pictures below show our "HCFCU Mobile" filled to the brim and the food items being moved into MRH High School.
When all the shopping was done HCFCU donated:
- 342 canned items (vegetables, ravioli/spaghetti meals, soups, tuna, etc.)
- 20 large jars of pasta sauce
- 35 boxes of spaghetti noodles
- 96 cups of fruit
- 24 large boxes of Pop-Tarts
- 32 jars of peanut butter
- 42 boxes Cap'n Crunch cereal
- 10 boxes of crackers
- 40 boxes of cookies
We are happy to support our local community and thank local programs like Weekend On Wheels for everything the do.
